It’s time for the quarterfinals at the WTA Nottingham Open. Since we covered one of the matches in yesterday’s action, the other two that meet our criteria will be posted here. Here are my best bets for the quarterfinal action. Let me know in the comments if you agree.
WTA Nottingham Open
Linette – Tauson: Time 13:30
H2H: 0-1
Clara Tauson beat Magda Linette in three sets in their only previous match at this year’s French Open, the first round. The match was recent enough to be in each other’s last five matches. While neither lady are spectacular on grass, Tauson has the better form, having beaten six of her last ten opponents, and four of her last five. Linette is only 2-3 in her last five, but she beat Alexandra Eala on her way to the quarterfinals.
Best Bet to Make
Tauson is the favorite in this match, and most of the books are in solid agreement on the line. There’s money coming in on Linette for good reason. Tauson has played plenty of tennis lately, with four of her last eight matches going to three sets. It makes sense that people are throwing money on her, but Tauson is the favorite here for good reason. She’s 4-1 in her last five matches, and Linette is one of those wins. Keep it simple on this one and take Tauson straight up.
That being said, Tauson winning is a value bet for sure.
Value bet/ the best odds: Tauson winning @1.57 @1xBet
Kessler – Boulter: Time 15:00
H2H: 0-0
It’s a little surprising that McCartney Kessler and Katie Boulter have never met before. They’re close in age and in world ranking, but here we are with Kessler standing between Boulter and a third semifinal in a row. Kessler is 3-2 in her last five matches, and 5-5 in her last ten. This would be the third year in a row reaching the quarterfinals of this tournament for Boulter. She’s also 3-2 in her last five matches, but is 8-2 in her last ten matches with a tournament victory in Paris.
Best Bet to Make
Kessler is the favorite in this match, but I am going to stick with Boulter until she’s knocked out. She’s earned the right to be called the favorite at an event like this, and Kessler’s current form doesn’t fill me with confidence. She was playing well right up through Austin, but has struggled since then, only reaching one quarterfinal in that time. She’s already struggled at this tournament once. I see Boulter using her experience to her advantage and giving Kessler confidence problems early and often.
That being said, Boulter winning is a value bet for sure.
