Weather Update: Light to moderate rain likely in hilly regions – The Himalayan Times – Nepal’s No.1 English Daily Newspaper

KATHMANDU, MAY 27

Weather across the country today will remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to mainly fair conditions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly regions and at one or two locations in other parts of the country.

Tonight, skies are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy over Madhesh, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in the hilly areas. The remaining regions will see partly cloudy to mainly fair weather. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Madhesh Province and the hilly regions, and isolated places elsewhere.

In the Kathmandu Valley, conditions will remain partly to generally cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of brief rain or thundershowers both during the day and at night.

Meteorologists attribute the current weather pattern to the influence of a western disturbance, local wind systems, and the partial effect of moisture-laden air coming from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
