In an interview with a European publication ahead of the Paris Air Show (June 16–22), Trappier addressed the recent India-Pakistan military tensions (May 7–10). When asked whether reports of India possibly losing a Rafale jet had sparked concern in defence circles, he replied, “India has not made any official statement, so the exact situation remains unclear.”
He further added, “What Pakistan is claiming about downing three Rafales is simply not true.”
Trappier concluded by saying, “When the complete details are known, the reality may surprise many. In combat, success isn’t defined by zero losses but by the mission’s accomplishment.”
Pakistan claims to shot down Indian Rafale jets
Pakistan had claimed it shot down five Indian jets, including three Rafale fighters, during India’s Operation Sindoor and no official confirmation has been made. However, several reports, citing experts, have now debunked this claim as false, devoid of any physical evidences.
India launched Operation Sindoor
In swift retaliation, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, a high-intensity, precision military operation targeting terrorist launchpads and training camps located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. The operation, planned with strategic coordination among Indian Army, Air Force, and intelligence agencies, reportedly neutralized multiple terror camps and inflicted significant damage to the terrorist infrastructure.The operation targeted key locations that were believed to be safe havens for terror groups responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.
The Ministry of Defence had stated that all necessary precautions were taken to avoid civilian casualties during the cross-border action, and that the Indian response was focused solely on neutralizing terror threats.
