TRENDING RUMORS
– Manchester United are looking to make an ambitious move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery, says TEAMtalk. Zaire-Emery, 19, is considered one of the top young players in the world and is unlikely to want to leave the Champions League winners for a team who have not qualified for any European competition next season. But United are looking to replace Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in central midfield and are exploring the possibility of making a €100 million bid to sign the France international, who signed a contract until 2029 last year.
– Talks are ongoing between Juventus and Chelsea regarding a move for striker Nicolas Jackson, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. Jackson, 24, is reportedly one of the names on the Bianconeri‘s shortlist as they continue to assess options to reinforce their attack this summer, and it is thought that an offer worth €60m would be required to persuade the Blues to part ways with him. The Serie A side are also keen on a deal to sign Lille and Canada international striker Jonathan David on a free transfer, with hopes that he would be willing to accept less than his current demands of €6m-per-season.
– Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal are looking to reignite their pursuit of Inter Miami star Lionel Messi this summer, says Sport. Messi, 38, has a contract which expires in December and Al Hilal president Fahd bin Nafel is reported to be in the United States to meet with the player’s father and agent, Jorge. However, inter Miami are also in talks with the Argentina international over a contract extension.
– Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford has fully agreed personal terms with Newcastle United, Fabrizio Romano reports. Talks between the two clubs are advancing over a potential transfer, although the final fee is still the subject of negotiations. Newcastle United remain confident that they can secure a deal for the England international, who kept a remarkable 29 clean sheets in the Championship last term. Per Romano, there is an “expectation” that Trafford’s transfer will be finalized in the coming days.
– Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté favors a move to Real Madrid as he eyes a new challenge away from Anfield, according to Footmercato. Contract talks between Liverpool and the French international are said to have stalled, alerting the attention of Los Blancos and Paris Saint-Germain. Konaté, 26, has just one year left on his current Reds deal, meaning Real Madrid could potentially sign him on a free transfer next summer — just as they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold earlier this month.
– Fenerbahce have taken “concrete steps” forward in their pursuit of Al Nassr striker Jhon Durán, Rudy Galetti reports. While the 21-year-old is still considering his options, talks with Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho are said to have softened his stance over a move. The Turkish giants are willing to offer Durán a €10 million salary, and Al Nassr a €7 million loan fee. As things stand, no other clubs are in the race to sign the former Aston Villa man.

EXPERT TAKE
ESPN’s resident scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen explores a possible move for Warren Zaïre-Emery.
Zaïre-Emery may be an ambitious target for Manchester United, but his profile suggests the club are finally identifying players of the specific skillset and calibre required at Old Trafford. The 19-year-old who already has 125 senior appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, offers a rare blend of tactical intelligence, technical quality, and positional versatility. While a move away from Champions League football to a side still in flux might seem improbable, the (reported) pursuit itself reflects United’s intention to build a more functional and dynamic midfield.
Zaïre-Emery’s ideal position is as a box-to-box No. 8, where his energy, composure and game awareness come to the fore. He excels at linking play, initiating attacks from deep, and controlling tempo. His technical base is outstanding and he averages 5.8 progressive passes per 90 minutes. Though not a high-volume dribbler, he’s adept at carrying the ball through midfield in transition, often bypassing pressure with the ball. Indeed, his 483 carries in Ligue 1 surpassed that of Bruno Fernandes (479) last season.
Beyond central midfield, he has also deputised at right wing-back, displaying impressive tactical discipline and defensive positioning. This adaptability adds to his value, especially for a team like United, who have often lacked both tactical flexibility and intensity out of possession.
The main area for improvement is his attacking contribution. Zaïre-Emery registers only 0.6 shots and 1.4 touches in the attacking box per 90 — low for a player in such a dominant team — and his crossing remains fairly unremarkable. He can occasionally appear hesitant and short on ideas when venturing into the final third.
Nevertheless, at just 19, he’s well ahead of any expected levels of development. His blend of athleticism, intelligence, and work rate could give Manchester United the kind of energetic, press-resistant midfield presence they’ve lacked.
