Chennai: One of the most celebrated actors of South Indian cinema, Simran recently opened up about her early career and her experience working with Malayalam superstar Mammootty in an interview with Cinema Vikatan.
Simran made her South Indian debut in the Mammootty-starrer Malayalam film Indraprastham, which was released in Tamil Nadu under the title Delhi Darbar. Reflecting on the experience, Simran said, “I only acted with Mammootty sir in one film — Indraprastham. Though I wasn’t the female lead opposite him, the songs composed by Vidyasagar in the film were absolutely beautiful.”
In the interview, the actor recalled how Indraprastham marked her entry into South Indian cinema, before she went on to star in the hit Tamil film Nerukku Ner. She also mentioned watching Mammootty’s recent film Bazooka, affirming that the actor continues to remain an “iconic figure” in the industry.
“He hasn’t changed at all. Mammootty sir is an inspiration to all of us — just like Rajini sir. My younger brother, Sumit, has acted alongside Mammootty sir as his younger sibling in the film Big B,” Simran added.
Simran was last seen in the family entertainer Tourist Family, directed by Abhishan Jeevinth. The film, featuring M. Sasikumar in the lead role, was a great box office success.
