Manchester United are on the brink of securing Enzo Kana-Biyik’s signature on a free transfer.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News in April that Kana-Biyik was jetting off to Manchester to seal the deal with United, and now it’s just a matter of cutting through the red tape to make it official.

United are ticking off a few regulatory boxes before Kana-Biyik’s move is set in stone. The Red Devils are poised to officially announce Kana-Biyik’s arrival from Le Havre, unlike the recent signing of Harley Emsden-James – who’s just turned 16 – from Southampton.

Ineos-owned FC Lausanne-Sport have been rumoured for an immediate loan swoop, but it’s understood that no loan scheme has been locked in for the incoming French whizz-kid, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The 18-year-old is set to tread the path of Paul Pogba, who also made the leap to United as a teen from Le Havre.

Kana-Biyik spent last season rubbing shoulders with Le Havre’s first-team but didn’t get his debut.

The highly-rated Kana-Biyik netted nine goals in 16 outings last season for the French club’s Under-19s, while also training with their first-team.

United’s academy staff have been brushing up on their French to communicate with Sekou Kone, who signed from Mali last summer, and having bilingual staff will help Kana-Biyik feel right at home at Carrington.

Meanwhile Amorim is still in the market for a No.9 that can lead the line for his first team.

Viktor Gyokeres has been tipped to make the jump – with recent reports even suggesting that he could go on strike to try and force a move to Old Trafford.

However, Sporting president Frederico Varandas has hit back; as quoted by Record, Varandas said: “Threats, blackmail and insults don’t work with me.

“I can guarantee that Viktor Gyökeres will not leave for 60+10 because I never promised him that. This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse.”

He added: “To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyökeres, neither today nor last season.”
