Former Minister and MLA Rampada Jamatia on Saturday urged the Government of Tripura to restore the Shiva temple located at Betlingchhip, the highest mountain peak of Jampui hills. Jamatia said that the temple established by Jamatia Hoda was destroyed by unidentified miscreants on June 08 last.
“For the Hindu society, this place has a religious importance. A trident which according to Hindu traditions symbolises lord Shiva was established there and devotees used to come from different parts of the state to offer prayers. Given the significance, Jamatia Hoda established a temple of Shiva,” Jamatia said.
According to Jamatia, for several decades people from the Hindu communities had been worshipping lord Shiva in the temple.
“I as an MLA and member of the ST committee of Tripura legislative assembly, urge upon the Chief Minister restore the temple and undertake the necessary development initiatives to transform this location into a holy shrine of lord Shiva,” said Jamatia.
The ST committee members visited the area and inspected the situation.
