-Recovers from mistake at the start
-Alex Marquez finishes second
-Pecco Bagnaia finishes third
The 2025 MotoGP Italian Grand Prix Sprint was full of drama even before the lights went out. Marc Marquez, on the factory Ducati lined up in Pole position. Just as the lights were about to go out, he realised that launch mode was not activated. He managed to do so just as the race began. What ensued was a great recovery ride.
Marc fights to the top
Pecco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez swooped into the front, capitalising on Marquez’s error. Marc, meanwhile, fell down the order but quickly began overtaking and making his way to the front. After passing Fabio Quartararo, he began chasing Alex and Pecco who were in the lead.
Mugello’s iconic start finish straight was the perfect backdrop for an epic duel between the trio of Pecco, Alex and Marquez. Going into Turn One, the three were almost abreast and exchanged positions, with slim margins for error.
Eventually, Marc Marquez made his way to the front after four laps and from then on, there was no looking back.
Alex and Pecco complete the podium
In the final moments of the Sprint race, Alex Marquez on the Gresini Ducati and Pecco Bagnaia on the Ducati Lenovo factory bike sealed P2 and P3, respectively. Fabio Quartararo, meanwhile, had a disastrous race, plummeting down the order, down to 10th.

The Main Race of the 2025 Italian Grand Prix will be held today, at 5:30pm.
