After nearly two decades, versatile actor Kamal Haasan and legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam came together for Thug Life, a collaboration that generated massive buzz but couldn’t live up to expectations. Despite the star power and hype, the film opened to negative reviews and struggled at the box office.
The latest update is that Thug Life is now streaming on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The movie hopes to find a second life on OTT after its underwhelming theatrical run.
Netflix reportedly imposed a Rs. 25 lakh penalty on the makers for reducing the theatrical-to-OTT window from the standard eight weeks to just four. The deal, which was originally valued at Rs. 135 crore, was ultimately scaled down by ₹110 crore.
The film also stars Abhirami, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, and more. It is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies, with music by the iconic AR Rahman.
