Multiple helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft are actively making water and retardant drops to slow the fire’s spread. The fire is reportedly moving at a moderate to dangerous rate of spread. It is pushing east and southeast near Idaleona Road in Perris.
Officials warn the fire could expand to about 1,000 acres if not contained. The fire is near the Mead Valley.
Multiple aircraft are assisting, including Air Attack 330, tankers 40, 72, 73, 76, 162, and helicopters 607 and 609. Smoke from the fire was visible from major freeways like the I-15 and I-215, as per social media reports.
