Hyderabad: After a relatively dry spell this monsoon, Hyderabad is finally looking at some much-needed rain today. Thanks to a developing Low Pressure Area (LPA) over the region, widespread rainfall is expected across Telangana, with the capital city likely to experience moderate showers during evening to night hours.

The day began with thick overcast skies blanketing Hyderabad, offering a brief respite from the harsh sun. While early hours saw only light drizzles, weather experts say the real rain could arrive later in the day, especially if showers in surrounding districts pick up as expected.

Sangareddy Showers Raise City’s Rain Hopes

The rainfall radar is buzzing with activity, particularly over Sangareddy, Medak, and Narayanpet, where moderate rain is already being reported. These regions, part of West Telangana, are now considered “activated,” which is often a reliable sign of what Hyderabad could expect next. As the weather shifts west to east, rainfall in Sangareddy often trickles into Hyderabad a few hours later.

For now, light drizzles are expected to continue in northern parts of the city, with heavier rainfall likely in the evening and into the night.

Hyderabad Weather Forecast: 30 June – 6 July

Here’s a quick look at what’s in store for the city this week:

30 June: Overcast skies; moderate rain possible by evening.

Temperature: 31°C / 23°C | Humidity: 71%

  • 1 July – 2 July: Generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain or intermittent showers.
  • Temperature: 31°C / 23°C

  • 3 July: Cloudy skies with patchy rainfall likely throughout the day.
  • Temperature: 30°C / 22°C

  • 4 July: Partly cloudy with chances of rain, thunderstorms or even dust storms.
  • 5 – 6 July: Cloudy conditions to persist with possible thundery developments.
  • The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued no weather warnings for the week ahead, indicating that while rain is expected, no extreme weather events are likely.

Rainfall Brings Much-Needed Relief to Deficient Zones

While Hyderabad may be in for a pleasant turn in the weather, the real story is unfolding in Sangareddy district, which has been facing deficient rainfall this monsoon. Today’s moderate to heavy rain forecast comes as a blessing for the region, potentially turning the tide for local farmers and residents.

With the monsoon now showing signs of revival in central and western parts of Telangana, all eyes are on the skies above Hyderabad. For now, it’s umbrellas out and fingers crossed for a good downpour later this evening.
