According to the policy approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the contact information a domain name is registered with must be valid and up to date at all times. Additionally, this information is freely visible on WHOIS web sites and while this may be okay for corporations, it may not be very convenient for individuals, because everybody can view their names and their personal email and postal addresses, especially in times when identity fraud is not that infrequent. That is the reason why domain name registrars have launched a service that conceals the details of their clients without changing them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. In case it’s active, people will see the details of the registrar, not those of the domain owner, if they do a WHOIS lookup. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic domain name extensions, but it is still impossible to conceal your info with some country-code ones.

Whois Privacy Protection in Hosting

If you’ve ordered a hosting plan from us and you have registered one or more domain names under your account, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without effort and to keep your private info intact. Of course, this will be possible only with the extensions that support this service. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol on the right-hand side of each of your domains. Its color will inform you if a domain name is protected or not and in the second case, you can add Whois Privacy Protection with just a few clicks of the mouse. Thus, you can safeguard your private details even if you have not enabled the Whois Privacy Protection service upon registration. You’ll be able to renew or to disable the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you would like to conceal the contact information for your domain and you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you’ll be able to add our Whois Privacy Protection service either upon signup or at any moment afterwards through our Hepsia Control Panel. This service is optional and can be enabled with a couple of mouse clicks from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domains that you’ve registered through our company will be displayed in alphabetical order. You can activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of the domain extensions that support the service by simply clicking on the “Whois Privacy Protection” icon next to each domain. In the same fashion, you can also renew the service or remove it – if you wish to transfer a domain name to a different registrar company and you need the real mailbox associated with the domain name to be visible.
