Thiruvananthapuram: Actor and BJP leader G Krishnakumar and his daughter Diya Krishna have been booked for allegedly kidnapping and extorting money from the latter’s former employees.
According to the FIR registered by the Museum Police, the complainants, all women staff members, alleged they were threatened and forcibly taken to another location, where they were pressured into handing over money.
Earlier, Krishnakumar had filed a complaint against three employees of his daughter Diya Krishna’s establishment, alleging they manipulated the QR code set up for UPI payments and siphoned off ₹69 lakh. Based on this, a case was registered against the three employees. Another case was also filed against the husband of one of the accused for allegedly threatening Diya over the phone.
Krishnakumar said that when the fraud was uncovered, the employees were called in and they admitted to the wrongdoing. They were asked to return the money to avoid legal action. The employees allegedly repaid ₹8 lakh and requested not to escalate the matter to the police, promising to return the remaining amount soon.
However, after the meeting, the employees allegedly began making threatening calls. Following this, Krishnakumar approached the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police Station with a formal complaint. After the police registered the case, the female employees filed a complaint against Krishnakumar and Diya, alleging they were abducted and forced to hand over money.
The police have registered two separate cases — one against Krishnakumar and his daughter for abduction and extortion, and another against the employees themselves for allegedly embezzling funds from Diya’s institution.
As per the complaint, the staff members were summoned under the guise of resolving a financial dispute but were instead coerced into parting with approximately ₹8 lakh.
Earlier, Diya Krishna had accused two former employees of her jewellery and saree brand ‘Oh By Ozy’ of scamming customers out of over ₹1 lakh by rerouting payments to their personal accounts.
Diya, in a series of revelations shared via Instagram stories, expressed her deep shock over the betrayal, especially as it happened during her pregnancy, adding that she had continued to stay involved by filming reels, introducing new stock, and overseeing the transition to their new showroom despite not being physically present every day.
