Pune: The centralised online admission process (CAP) for first-year junior college (FYJC) or Std XI admissions in junior colleges across the state has been postponed once again, for the third time in a row. Now, college allotment for the first round of students will now be announced on June 26.Parents and students expressed frustration over the constant confusion in the admission process. Meanwhile, the CAP committee stated that technical problems were leading to the developments.Sakshi Pethe, a student who applied for the science stream, said, “Every time we look forward to the merit list, there is a rescheduling. It never happened before. But these changes are very irksome.”Santosh Jadhav, a parent of a student who applied for FYJC, said, “The problem with constant rescheduling is that it is disturbing all the plans we set for our children. This is also going to postpone the reopening of classes. CAP is not a new procedure, so why problems are arising this year is an important question.”Explaining the latest timeline, education officer (secondary) Shriram Panzade told TOI, “Students whose names appear on the allotment list must secure admission between June 27 and July 3, and the list of vacant seats for the second round will be published on July 5.”As a result, 12 lakh students who have registered for the admission process will now have to wait longer for their admissions.According to the revised schedule released by the directorate of secondary and higher secondary education on Monday, the merit list for the zero round (management, internal quota, and minority quota) will be announced on June 11, and the admission process based on this list will be conducted from June 12-14.Previously, the schedule indicated that college allotment for the first round was to be announced on June 10. Now, according to the revised schedule, the direct allotment will take place on June 26.On June 17, the colleges selected by the students and the admission process will be reviewed. After the first list, students must secure admission in colleges between June 27 and July 3; for the zero round (quota seats), admissions will take place from June 12-14.Panzade said, “Apart from some technical issues, students who filled Part I were given a chance to complete Part II, so the number of final candidates in the CAP rounds increased. So, this will also give a chance for more students to land a college allotment.”Meanwhile, approximately 84,000 students only filled Part I of the application. These students were given a two-day period to complete filling Part II.Additionally, considering the applications of 12.7 lakh students participating in the admission process, adequate time is expected for college allotment.
