With the 2025 Duluth Air and Aviation Expo set for this weekend, performers took to the skies on the Fourth of July to get their final practice runs in ahead of the show.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, F-22 Raptors, F-35C’s, Navy Leap Frogs, and many others are in the lineup.

Major Brett Handy, team leader of Canadian Forces Snowbirds is back in Duluth for the airshow, a city he’s grown much more familiar with.

“This is my third time, maybe fourth time in fact, being here in Duluth as a performer. My first was in 2012 as a Snowbird 9 with the Snowbirds. And then I’ve been here a few times after that. As recently as last year, the team came, and we did a showdown of waterfronts here in Duluth. And I mean, it feels like home, you know, it’s the same type of geography as we have in my home province of Ontario,” said Major Handy.

The U.S. and Canadian militaries often work hand in hand, and this performance just shows how comfortable they are with each other in the sky.

“We feel extremely welcome here in Duluth. And I think it speaks to the friendship that we have between Canada and the U.S. As members of the Canadian Forces, we work extensively with all branches of the US military. And what we do here at airshows is just a small example of that kind of cooperation,” said Major Handy.

The Air and Aviation Expo takes off at 9 A.M. on Saturday and Sunday. More information can be found on the airshow’s website.
