Cinematographer Pratik Shah Deletes Instagram After Multiple Women Accuse Him Of Abuse

Last Updated:

Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for Jubilee and Homebound, faces accusations of emotional abuse and inappropriate behaviour, leading him to deactivate his Instagram.

Pratik Shah has been accused of abuse by multiple women.

Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for his work on Jubilee, the upcoming movie CTRL, and Homebound (which was shown at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival), is facing serious accusations. People say he behaved badly, including emotional abuse, manipulation, and inappropriate actions. The issue came up after filmmaker Abhinav Singh posted on Instagram, sharing his own experience with Shah and calling him “very manipulative” and “emotionally abusive.”

After the controversy started on Instagram, Pratik Shah deleted or deactivated his account. Now, if you search for his profile, it shows a message saying, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.” So far, he has not responded to the accusations. Meanwhile, many people on social media are asking for him to take responsibility if the claims are true.

Abhinav had first posted a warning on his Instagram, telling his female friends to be careful around the cinematographer. He also invited them to message him privately if they wanted to learn more.

Later, he wrote, “The number of women who’ve reached out to me is honestly frightening. I feel like I’m having a Margot Robbie moment from Bombshell. I will not be silenced. And to those who are still employing him – f**k you. His name is Pratik Shah. He’s a cinematographer.”

He added, “I’ve spoken out, and now I’m hearing from others — people who’ve felt silenced or sidelined. It’s heartbreaking. The patterns are undeniable. Many have called him a predator.”

Filmmaker and writer Srishti Riya Jain shared several screenshots on her Instagram stories, saying that Pratik Shah has been making inappropriate moves for the past four years. She pointed out Reddit posts accusing him of sending unwanted messages to many women. She added, “To everyone acting surprised and shocked now… This man worked on one of the ‘most empathetic’ films of the year — at least, that’s what the Cannes interviews said.”

Pratik Shah faced similar accusations four years ago. A young cinematographer filed a complaint against him with the Indian Women Cinematographers’ Collective (IWCC), saying he asked her for a nude picture. At that time, he apologised and called it a “one-time mistake.” He received only a warning for the incident.
