Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s future remains uncertain, despite already being informed by Barcelona that he is not part of the new sporting project.
The German goalkeeper will not be given minutes, as Joan Garcia has been named the new starter, with Wojciech Szczesny set to act as the second-choice.
Ter Stegen is reluctant to leave and is standing firm on his contract, although several clubs are beginning to test the waters.
Galatasaray are one of the clubs interested and are trying to convince him from a financial perspective, having submitted an offer that would be financially favourable for the German international, according to SPORT.
Galatasaray’s lucrative offer
Indeed, Galatasaray, in search of a top-level, are reportedly prepared to offer Ter Stegen a four-year contract and a salary increase, on the condition that he leaves on a free transfer.
The Turkish giants are in ongoing contact with the goalkeeper’s entourage, in case he reconsiders in the coming weeks. They are prepared to wait, but time is pressing, and other options are being explored.
At present, Ter Stegen remains firm on his stance of not leaving Barcelona. He is angry with the club, feeling that they have not acted transparently, especially in relation to alleged leaks about internal conflicts during the final stretch of last season.
The goalkeeper believes these leaks were an attempt to damage his image, which he refuses to accept. He is convinced that he will eventually reclaim the starting position based on merit. His plan is to stay and fight until January and, if necessary, then consider potential exits.
Barcelona open to free exit
Barcelona are interested in saving his salary and are open to letting him leave for free, provided he agrees to waive a significant portion of the remaining wages on his contract, which runs for three more years.
The situation is currently a high-stakes standoff that could be resolved late in the transfer window, though there are no guarantees.
Ter Stegen’s agents continue to keep communication open with interested clubs in case an exit path becomes necessary. The player himself has instructed them not to negotiate with any club for now, as he still intends to stay.
However, they are preparing in case his stance changes and he decides to leave in search of playing time.
AS Monaco, once a strong contender for his signature, now appear to be shifting focus toward Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, who could be available for around €10 million.
