Three Brits are vying for quarterfinal spots at the ATP 250 event in Eastbourne this week. Two of those Brits–one being part of the match of the day and a former British No. 1–will headline four of the Wednesday matches previewed by LWOT in this set of predictions. The other predictions for Wednesday matches feature Taylor Fritz vs Joao Fonseca.
ATP Eastbourne Day 3 Predictions
Billy Harris vs Mattia Bellucci
Head-to-head: Bellucci 1-0
Billy Harris is close to his career high ranking and the Top 100, but more importantly, there’s pressure on the Brit as he’s defending semifinalist points from last year’s Eastbourne event. Harris’ 6-4 6-4 win over compatriot Cameron Norrie was his first Tour-level win in 2025. Meanwhile, Mattia Bellucci is largely inexperienced on grass courts, but he’s had an okay 14-20 run this season–exclusively at Tour level for the first time. This is a 50-50 match that should come down to pressure, but Harris coming off a sneaky upset might give him the slight edge. Bellucci is the favorite by ranking.
Prediction: Harris in 3
Nuno Borges vs Jenson Brooksby
Head-to-head: First meeting
Jenson Brooksby is continuing to climb the rankings after a long layoff, and will get a good shot at a fifth Top 50 win of 2025. Nuno Borges is steadily improving on fast grass courts after a first round win over Brit Jack Pinnington Jones. However, Brooksby has an unsteady and uncomfortable game that could throw off Borges’ rhythm–one that relies on consistent tennis from the baseline. If Borges can serve repeatedly well, he’ll win, but I find it more likely for the American to n0tch an upset.
Prediction: Brooksby in 3

Lorenzo Sonego vs Ugo Humbert
Head-to-head: Humbert 4-3
This should be an exciting eighth career meeting between these two players. Both players have winning records on grass courts, while this is the pair’s first match on such a surface. Ugo Humbert has slid down the rankings going into the midpoint of 2025, while Lorenzo Sonego has likewise been up-and-down. The Italian did nearly stun Alexander Zverev in Halle last week, and he has the benefit of already playing a match in what was a 6-2 6-4 sweep over Fabian Marozsan. Look for Sonego to reach the quarterfinals with solid tennis behind him.
Prediction: Sonego in 3
Daniel Evans vs Tommy Paul
Head-to-head: 1-1
Tommy Paul won the biggest title of his career on grass in 2024 at the ATP 500 event in London, but withdrawing from this year’s event due to abdominal injury has raised some concerns. This is Paul’s first match since the French Open, and he’ll have to play well against a home favorite already in his fourth 2025 grass court tournament. Daniel Evans has a tricky slice backhand and flat serve that will contrast Paul’s topspin. However, the Brit is largely ranked outside the Top 150, and Paul has a solid 18-2 record against players outside the Top 100 dating back to the start of 2024. If the American is healed up, he’ll win in a tight two-setter.
Prediction: Paul in 2
