Actor Ajay Devgn on Thursday shared the first poster of his upcoming film ‘Son of Sardaar 2’. The actor shared a colourful poster featuring himself wearing a turban. He also shared the release date of the film.
‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is the sequel to his 2012 hit action comedy, which also featured Sonakshi Sinha. With the second film, the 56-year-old is also venturing back into the world of comedy after a long time.
“The Return of the Sardaar. #SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July. #SardaarIsBack #SonOfSardaar2 (sic),” Devgn shared on Instagram, tagging Mrunal Thakur, who features alongside him in the film.
Devgn has been offering several intense action dramas for some time now. His last few films – ‘Singham Again’, ‘Shaitaan’, ‘Bholaa’, and ‘Maidaan’, among others – were all serious action dramas. With ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, the actor once again explores a genre that he often aces. While the film is not from the league of ‘Golmaal’ or ‘Bol Bachchan’, it has the potential to tickle the audience’s funny bones, and give solid entertainment in theatres.
Earlier, actor Vijay Raaz played an important role in the film. However, he was reportedly replaced after an altercation with the director. Later, actor Sanjay Mishra was made to come on board. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he spoke about agreeing to be a part of the film at the very last minute.
Mishra shared, “I am done filming for ‘Son of Sardaar 2’. All of this is a part of the business, to be very honest. I did the film because I got a call from Ajay Devgn. One call from him and that’s all it takes for me to say yes to him. He’s a close friend and has been there for me in tough times. Not just that, replacing Vijay wasn’t easy.”
The film also reportedly features Sanjay Dutt, Sahil Mehta, Kubbra Sait and Ravi Kishan, among others. ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is scheduled to hit the screens on July 25.
