UIDAI extends free online Aadhaar document update facility till June 14, 2026

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the free online document update service for Aadhaar holders till June 14, 2026. This move allows residents to update their Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) on the myAadhaar portal at no cost.

Originally set to end in June 2025, the free service—meant to promote document hygiene within the Aadhaar system—has now been extended by a year. It is especially helpful for Aadhaar holders who have had changes in their name, address, or demographic details due to events like marriage or relocation.

UIDAI stated via social media: “UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th June 2026; to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on the myAadhaar portal.”

What can be updated online?

  • Residents can use the portal to update:
  • Name (if change is supported)
  • Address
  • Other demographic details (PoI and PoA documents only)

However, for updates related to mobile number, email ID, biometrics, or photograph, users still need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, and standard fees apply.

How to update Aadhaar details online?

  • Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
  • Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP.
  • Upload scanned PoI and PoA documents (JPEG, PNG, or PDF, max 2 MB each).
  • Submit the request and note the 14-digit Update Request Number (URN).
  • Track status and download updated Aadhaar once approved.

For address changes:
