Nagaland athletes invited to join Indian Army as Agniveers » MokokchungTimes.com

The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has announced a special enrolment opportunity for male sportspersons from Nagaland to join the Indian Army as Agniveers. This initiative, in collaboration with the Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong, is aimed at recruiting talented athletes into military service while supporting their continued sports journey.

The NOA informed that the recruitment is open to athletes in basketball, cross country, handball, hockey, karate, shooting, swimming, and volleyball. The tentative date for the recruitment rally is set for the third week of July 2025 at the Assam Regimental Centre in Shillong. An initial screening will be conducted in Kohima during the third week of June 2025. It was informed that shortlisted candidates will receive preparatory training before attending the final rally.

Applicants must be between 17½ and 21 years of age and have passed Class 10 with at least 45% aggregate and 33% in each subject. Physical standards include a minimum height of 160 cm, weight of 48 kg, and chest measurement of 77 cm with a 5 cm expansion.

“All affiliated sports associations are requested to identify and nominate eligible candidates and submit the list of interested sportspersons to the NOA Office by 18th June 2025,” the NOA informed.
