In a major step for the Indian maritime sector, leading Indian companies have secured strategic agreements with international players at Nor-Shipping event.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal attended the MoU signing ceremonies in Norway’s Oslo.
One of the most key agreements was between India’s Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) and Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler und Rehder GmbH & Co. KG from Germany.
The Memorandum of Intent (MoI) between the two companies will see the construction of four additional 7,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels.
These vessels, featuring hybrid propulsion and cutting-edge cybersecurity standards, will add to an existing order of eight such vessels under production at GRSE’s Kolkata yard.
Additionally, GRSE signed MoUs with Aries Marine LLC from the UAE to collaborate on offshore platform and vessel construction and with a prominent global engine manufacturer.
Further, India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) entered into a major MoU with Norway’s DNV, aimed at collaboration in several sectors.
This partnership covers shipbuilding, offshore and maritime and expanding port Infrastructure, energy systems, industrial solutions and smart Infrastructure, sustainability, ESG and risk Services, Software, cyber security, platforms and digital solutions.
In his Norway visit, Union Minister Sonowal is leading an Indian delegation that includes key maritime companies, with participation from both established and upcoming enterprises, as well as MSMEs.
Some of the companies from the delegation include L&T Shipbuilding, Yeoman Marine Services, Smart Engineering & Design Solutions (SEDS), Chowgule Shipbuilding Division, Goa Shipyard Limited, Mandovi Dockyards, Synergy Shipbuilders, Varya Tech Pvt Ltd, Marine Electricals, Buoyancy Consultants, Shoft Shipyard, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), & Swan Defence & Heavy Industries.
