With Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof excluded for personal reasons, ahead of their departures at the end of their contracts, and both Lisandro Martinez and Leny Yoro out due to injury, there are likely to be opportunities for some of the Academy fledglings.
Dan Armer, Tyler Fredricson, Godwill Kukonki and Reece Munro are all options to play in defence, and can follow the example set by 18-year-old Ayden Heaven, who has adapted well, despite his inexperience at senior level, after arriving from Arsenal.
“All the players here, we use in training,” added Amorim. “So we know the players. For this kind of game, we bring players for the problems we have at this moment.
“But, sometimes, you have surprises with young players. Like with Ayden, every time he played, he looks like a first-team player.”
Dutch duo Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee worked away from the main group in the open training session at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.
