Wimbledon Day 2 Women’s Predictions Including Iga Swiatek vs Polina Kudermetova

Notable veterans Iga Swiatek and Victoria Azarenka play their first round matches at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. We have predictions for every first round match in London as our team provides complete coverage of the prestigious tournament.

Iga Swiatek vs Polina Kudermetova

Damian: Swiatek had one of the best grass weeks of her career in Bad Homburg just now, although Pegula made her very uncomfortable with her flat ball. The Pole is in a different spot right now than in the last few years and has to focus on the grass season after not winning the French. She shouldn’t lose in the opening rounds. Swiatek in 2

Manuel: Swiatek showed in Bad Homburg that she can play on grass and it’s probably only a matter of time until she makes a deep run at Wimbledon. Whether that will happen this year or not, she should definitely make it through this opening round. Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Yesh: Iga Swiatek finally looks comfortable on grass. That’s dangerous for the rest of the field. Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Iva Jovic vs Suzan Lamens

Damian: Jovic is picking up so much experience at the Slams despite her age and is on an 8-match winning streak after claiming the title in Ilkley and qualifying for the main draw. Seems like she should be able to roll into the second round here, especially as Lamens tends to be a bit unspectacular on the main tour (besides that one title run last year). Jovic in 2

Manuel: Jovic has been on fire on grass, winning the title in Ilkey and following it up with a fantastic qualifying run here. The 17-year-old might well continue her winning streak here if she can keep up that level. Prediction: Jovic in 2

Yesh: Iva Jovic is the next American teenager who will take the world by storm. And grass courts suit her game really well. Prediction: Jovic in 2

Jil Teichmann vs Lucia Bronzetti

Damian: Teichmann didn’t choose to play a grass-court warm-up, while Bronzetti just lost two matches in straight sets. Neither has that much momentum on their side and the Swiss has actually never won a match at Wimbledon. Bronzetti should feel pretty comfortable then and might grind her down with the heavy topspin being far less effective. Bronzetti in 3

Manuel: Neither player particularly likes grass, but it is an excellent opportunity for both to reach a second round here and both will do their best for sure. Bronzetti is generally the more consistent player of the two and should have the slight edge here. Prediction: Bronzetti in 3

Yesh: This should be a pretty good, even match. Teichmann is probably better on grass, but this could go either way.
Prediction: Teichmann in 2

Victoria Azarenka vs Anastasia Zakharova

Damian: In a rough season so far, that Bad Homburg run from Azarenka last week actually felt like something new. The 35-year-old never made a final at Wimbledon, but also hasn’t lost in the opening round since 2006. Seems like that level she showed in Germany should allow her to continue that streak against a rather middle-of-the-pack qualifier. Azarenka in 2

Manuel: While Azarenka is very far from her glory days and could definitely struggle here, she should still have enough in her to at least make it to the second round here. Prediction: Azarenka in 3

Yesh: Victoria Azarenka probably won’t be playing that much longer, but she’s still a very strong player and plays well on the grass of SW19. Don’t count her out. Prediction: Azarenka in 2
