As part of a series of initiatives by Indian Railways to make passengers’ journeys smoother and more convenient, the government has introduced several changes with effect from July.
In line with this, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday (July 1) launched a new software application, RailOne, on the occasion of the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), which designs, develops, implements, and maintains key information systems for Indian Railways.
The newly launched application allows users to book all kinds of tickets, make enquiries, plan journeys, and access services like Food on Train and RailMadad — all in one place.
The RailOne app is available for both Android and iPhone users and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and iOS App Store.
According to CRIS, the app also includes features related to freight train service enquiries.
“It not only combines all services in one place but also integrates them to offer users a comprehensive Indian Railways experience,” CRIS stated.
RailOne also features a single sign-on facility, reducing the burden on users to remember multiple passwords.
What if you are already using RailConnect or UTSonMobile?
Users already using the RailConnect or UTSonMobile applications do not need to create new credentials. They can log in to RailOne using their existing username and password.
During the event, the minister noted that the UTSonMobile app did not receive a good response from users, and that RailOne aims to address those shortcomings by providing a more comprehensive and user-friendly experience.
The minister also highlighted the resilience and capability of two sectors of country the Indian Railways, stating that “only two government organisations in the country — Defence and Railways — have strength where, no matter what the problem is, they have the ability to solve it.”
