

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), Oyo State Chapter, has expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for declaring Friday a public holiday to mark this year’s hijrah celebration.
The organization, in a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Alhaji Dawood Afolabi, made available to newsmen on Thursday, also
extended greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Hijrah 1447.
It urged muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the timeless values, enduring lessons, and transformative essence of the Hijrah — the migration of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah.
“For today’s Muslim Ummah, Hijrah remains a call to reflect on our personal and collective journeys towards Allah. It urges us to migrate from ignorance to knowledge, from sin to repentance, from division to unity, and from complacency to action. It is a time to rededicate ourselves to righteousness, social responsibility, and community development,” the statement read.
The organization also announced that its annual hijrah celebration will hold in Ibadan on June 29.
”the In line with its tradition, NACOMYO is once again organizing its annual Hijrah celebration to commemorate this pivotal event. The 1447 edition has been scheduled to hold on Sunday, 29th of June 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, starting at 9:00 am prompt.
“The program will feature a rich blend of spiritual enlightenment, lectures from distinguished Islamic scholars, Qur’anic recitations, cultural displays, youth engagements, and awards to deserving individuals and institutions for their contribution to Islam and humanity. It is a moment of spiritual reawakening and a platform for reinforcing our identity and shared values as Muslims.
“We call on all Muslims, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious scholars, youths, and the general public to join us in this noble gathering, as we celebrate our heritage and renew our covenant with Allah and one another,” the statement added.
